The 47 miniatures from the hands of Jean Fouquet – originally formed a complete book of hours – were recognised very early as one of the greatest masterpieces of occidental book illumination. In the 18th century, the illuminated folios were removed and almost all text pages were lost.
Especially impressive is the fantastic artful finishing of the miniatures where Italian and Flemish influences merge to an inimitable work of art.
For the first time since the 17th century, all miniature leaves known today and the remaining text bifolio from 8 collections all over the world are finally reunited again in a perfect Facsimile Edition true to the original.
