February – Breviarium Grimani

Everyday scenes for each month of the calendar

A carved golden frame of late Gothic style houses inside the suggestive winter picture of February and shows us a peasant scene in the snowy weather of the Netherlands. The calendar images of the so-called Breviarium Grimani, named after its former owner, member of the noble family and Venetian duke of the Grimani, show the charm of the Flemish book decoration at its last moment of splendor among the years 1480 and 1520.
